Joseph Galante, also known as Joe, was born in Salisbury where he studied at Prince Edward School in Harare, Zimbabwe.

He matriculated in 1973 and received his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree (B.Pharm) from Rhodes University in 1977. He speaks English, French, Ladino and a smattering of Afrikaans.

Joe then took over the practice of  Petries Pharmacy in 1992 serving the Sea Point community over past 25 years. Petries Pharmacy is located in Sea Point on the Atlantic Seaboard in Regent Road.
